which grade of steel? - Weld Talk Message Boards
Dec 08, 2007 · i want to build a headache rack for my truck. i am thinking of using either square or rectangular tubing for the frame of the rack. i'm thinking 2 x 1 x 1/8" would be a good choice. i see there are different grades of tubing. one is listed as A36 and another as A500.Why are A36 steel plates used in construction?A36 steel plate is typically used in structural applications due to its high strength-to-weight ratio and formability, as these properties make it easy to shape A36 into to a variety of structural pieces that can withstand great forces. Some of the common infrastructure applications for A36 include bridge and building construction.See all results for this questionWhich is easier to weld, 1018 or A36?A36 is often used as a mass steel product for the industrial and construction industries for making buildings, bridges, railroads, oil rigs and more. A36 is easy to weld with any standard welding methods, and with lower yield strengths than 1018, it is easier to bend.See all results for this question

Because of its low cost and weldability, A36 is widely used for structural purposes. This includes the frames of bridges, buildings, automobiles, and general fabrication.See all results for this questionWelding Procedure Qualification of A36 Steel Plates College welding program using A36 steel in accordance with American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1, B4.0, and B2.1. ASTM A36 is is the most commonly available of the hot-rolled steels which has good overall mechanical properties, is easily fabricated and may be formed hot or cold. Due to the hot roll process the surface on this steel will be rough when compared to cold rolled. ASTM A36 yield strength is also less than C1018. A36 STEEL ROUND BAR. On Request.

Just plain carbon steel What is it?
For A36/SA36 material, the tensile and yield strength are moderate. The yield is approximately 36,000 PSI, and the tensile strength varies from 58,000 PSI to 80,000 PSI. Variations in tensile strength allow for the difference in carbon, manganese, and silicon content in different thickness. Also the production methodrolling, hot or cold, or extrudingcan affect tensile strength. Additional carbon and manganese produce a higher strength but lower ductility. For example, the minimum elongation in 2-inSee more on thefabricator a36 hrs steel properties Plasma weldingJoining mild steel to HSS? - Practical MachinistDec 14, 2011 · I weld HSS (CPM M4) to A36 (mild/structural steel) to make plane irons. But the CPM M4 is normalized at time of weld, annealed right after, then ground, the mild steel is machined, and the whole shebang then hardened (well the CPM-M4 hardens) and tempered. smtHot Rolled Steel Round Bar | HR Round Steel BarA36 is a low carbon steel that maintains less than a 0.3% carbon content by weight. The low carbon content within A36 allows it to be easily machined, formed and welded, which allows it to be used for a wide range of applications.
